Rotary District 7610 2015-2016 Youth Speech Contest

Speech Theme: Be a Gift to the World

Contestants, who must be in grades 9 – 12, will speak on the Rotary theme: Be a Gift to the World. Each Club should hold a contest in and select their winners. Club first place winners advance to the area contest held by Assistant Governors. Each first place winner in the Area contests will advance to compete in the District Final Contest. First, second and third place winners of the District Finals will receive cash awards: $1000 for first place, $500 for second and $250 for third.

Finals for the District 7610 Speech Contest will be Saturday, March 19, 2016. Location to be announced. Clubs should complete their contests and report winners to the Assistant Governor no later than March 5, 2016. AGs should hold area contests, with the winners from clubs in their area, no later than March 12, 2015.

The District Speech Contest winner must deliver the winning speech at the District Conference on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Hyatt Chesapeake, Cambridge MD. The sponsoring Rotary Club will cover the cost of the student’s participation and coordinates the student’s attendance. Club should expect the cost of participation to include transportation and meals for the student and student chaperone or parent who accompanies the student to the conference.

Contest information will be posted on the District website and e-mailed to AGs, Club Presidents, and New Generations/Youth Services Chairs. Reminders will be sent periodically to AGs, Club Presidents and New Generations/Youth Services Chairs.
